Spring Reminders

The Importance of Commercial HVAC Maintenance Regular maintenance of your commercial HVAC system is incredibly important for the longevity and efficiency of your unit. Maintenance services will ensure that the inside of your commercial building or business is comfortable and free of any pollutants, and will also ensure that your machine is working well and does not need any repairs. It is important to have regularly scheduled HVAC maintenance appointments throughout the year that will help identify any issues that you are having, analyze the equipment and how it’s operating to make sure that it is

working at its maximum efficiency. Benefit #1: Lower operating costs

Did you know that poorly maintained HVAC systems can use a lot of excess energy and will therefore increase your utility bill every month? If you keep your system maintained with periodic checkups, you’ll be able to keep the system running at peak capacity and ultimately, reduce your operating costs significantly.

Benefit #2: Extended life of the equipment If you fail to keep your HVAC system maintained, it can negatively impact the lifespan and the durability of the equipment and parts. You may have a greater risk of needing to replace certain parts, as well. No one wants to have an HVAC system break down, especially when it comes to your business. This can result in a loss of inventory or customers and in turn, mean you have a loss in revenue. Benefit #3: Peace of mind This is one of the top benefits of having routine maintenance appointments. You’ll know that you, your customers, as well as your employees will be kept comfortable. And not only that, your business budget won’t be negatively affected .

Overhead Dock Door Maintenance

To minimize risk and potential costly downtime, be sure not to overlook regular maintenance of overhead dock doors. As with maintenance of other equipment and systems, investing in the up-front costs of maintenance will save money in the long run. Routine maintenance would include inspection of things such as cables, brackets, rollers, framing, hinges, tracks, bearings, springs, door level, weather seals, safety signage, lighting, and general door operation. How often maintenance will be needed will vary based on weather conditions and usage cycles.

Severe Thunderstorm & Lightning Facts

Tornadoes produce winds in excess of 250 miles per hour. They can be a mile wide and stay on the ground over 50 miles. For more information, see our Tornado Preparedness page. Strong winds caused by a thunderstorm can exceed 100 mph and cause damage equal to a tornado. They can be extremely dangerous to aviation. Flash flooding is the number one cause of death associated with thunderstorms, causing more than 140 fatalities each year. Fore more information, see our Flood and Flash Flood Preparedness page. Hail causes more than $1 billion in crop and property damage each year nationwide. Of the estimated 100,000 thunderstorms that occur each year in the United States, about 10 percent are classified as severe. The National Weather Service considers a thunderstorm severe if it produces hail at least ¾-inch in diameter, winds of 58 mph or stronger, or a tornado. Thunderstorms can occur any time of year in New Jersey. However, severe thunderstorms generally occur during the warmer months of March through October. A typical thunderstorm is 15 miles in diameter and lasts an average of 30 minutes - far smaller than a hurricane or a winter storm. Despite their small size, however, ALL thunderstorms are dangerous. Thunderstorms can produce lightning, tornadoes, strong winds, flash flooding and hail. Lightning occurs with all thunderstorms. Each year, lightning causes an average of 67 fatalities nationwide. Many more are injured but survive with long-term, debilitating symptoms including memory loss, sleep disorders and muscle spasms.
