LABOUR MARKET IN ŁÓDZKIE REGION PERSPECTIVES ON THE LABOUR MARKET

The working age population accounts for 60% of the total population of the Łódź province of nearly 2.5 million. This is significant to investors and entrepreneurs as women aged 18 to 59 and men aged 18 to 64 are potential job candidates. The pre-working population has remained at a steady level for several years, suggesting a regular number of new candidates entering the labour market.

Average employment in the Łódź province has remained largely unchanged at approximately 350,000, underlining the fact that the local labour market is stable and the region is strengthening its position as an attractive investment destination. Łódź alone has more than 138,000 people in work (as of June 2023). The unemployment rate in the Łódź province is higher than that for other regions across Poland, which translates into higher candidate availability . According to data from the Statistical Office in Łódź, as of June 2023, the rate of unemployment stood at 5.5% for the Łódź province and 4.5% for Łódź, equivalent to 55,000 unemployed people; of that total, 51% were women and 49% were men. This indicates greater gender parity in this group, a result of diversity in employment policies implemented by a growing number of employers.

As of June 2023, there were 12 unemployed people per job posting – down from 15 in early 2023, which suggests that new job postings are likely to attract strong interest.
