The University of Bristol will comfortably establish itself among the world’s top 50 great research-intensive universities. This will have a significant economic impact on the city as the best talent is secured to contribute to major scientific advancements and technological breakthroughs. The Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus will focus on creative, digital and innovation industries, as well as life sciences. This will provide a catalyst for growth, supplemented by the projects being led by the University of the West of England and University of Bath, which provide a critical clustering benefit. The liveability of the city will play a considerable part in drawing in the expertise required to drive the university to established excellence, along with the significant expansion of the high-quality student housing provision. Bristol will be the most productive tech economy outside of London, pioneering innovation in the most prominent sectors of growth. The city’s universities will play a significant role in conducting cutting-edge research across a variety of key growth sectors. Incubators and accelerator hubs will be abundant across the city, nurturing start-ups and providing a foundation for rapid growth. Private sector investment (both domestic and international) will continue across the region, with a particular focus on the heritage industries of Bristol, engineering, aeronautical, and life sciences. Significant further investment will be witnessed in the newly emerged specialities of robotics and AI. New developments on and around the innovation districts across the region will provide space for the expansion of the sectors, including the University of Bristol’s Temple Quarter Campus, and the Central Innovation District of Temple Quarter, Bristol & Bath Science Park and Brabazon. 12
