Cushman & Wakefield RETHINKING: The Shape Of Real Estate 2040
SENIORS HOUSING
SENIORS HOUSING FLOORSPACE FORECAST
INDEX (2023 = 100)
The UK population is ageing. There are an estimated 12.9 million over 65s today, and this is expected to increase to 16.9 million by 2040. There is a well-documented shortfall of age-appropriate homes in the UK and this is only going to get worse. The delivery of seniors housing needs to increase – it is essential if older people are to live healthier and happier lives for longer. Increasing the number of age-appropriate homes will help relieve some of the pressure an already struggling health, social care and housing system is set to face. BY 2040, SENIORS HOUSING SHOULD INCREASE BY 171.3% IF WE ARE TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF OUR AGEING POPULATION.
