• The three big proponents of change that the legal sector will see going forward are business models, talent demands, and technological development. In 2022, drivers of change were most frequently cited as client demands, recruiting and retention, fee compression, and talent leaving the industry altogether. • Partner structures are not likely to see any dramatic change within the next 10 years. In fact, only 10% of firms think that the partner structure will be beyond recognition 10 years from now when compared with the structures present in firms today. • A long-held status symbol for attorneys is on the brink of fading into the past as firms become more open to eliminating private offices in favor of activity-based settings and hoteling. Forty percent of respondents indicate that private offices may become less common and replaced by a variety of work settings within the next five years, up from 22% last year. However, law firms currently have not shifted away from offices for attorneys.


40% of respondents in 2023 indicate it will be common for firms to move away from private attorney offices in five years.
